We just put up all of our Christmas decorations over the weekend and now the holiday is in full swing at our house! I’m drinking coffee out of my special reindeer mug and the Christmas tunes have been on since the first of the month! Yup! I’m that¬†person! Ha! I have no shame!

I know that the holidays can be difficult for those of us who are in the throes of losing weight and taking control of their health so I’ve decided to throw together a gift guide with things that will help you to stay on track and perhaps even get excited to keep at your health and fitness goals well into the new year! Some of these items I have and love, the others are definitely on my own personal list for this year (even if it’s just my “wish” list!)

This little sucker is taking the health and fitness world by storm! A cheaper alternative to the BodyBugg, the FitBit is a little gadget that you attach to yourself via a band and it works tirelessly all day to calculate all the calories you burn during the day so that you have a much more accurate count of your calorie intake and outtake on a daily basis. You can track your daily activity, your nutrition, your sleep and it all works wirelessly so you don’t have to spend hours uploading everything onto your computer! For $99 this is a totally affordable gift that you could even give to yourself!

Starfrit Nutritional Kitchen Scale

If you like your gadgets, this is the gift for you! This scale takes you beyond your regular grams and ounces to actually give you the nutritional breakdown of over 999 foods or ingredients plus you can add up to 99 of your own items! Pretty cool, eh? This is really handy if you keep a good old fashioned paper and pen style of tracking your food!

NewBalance NBx Windblocker Jacket 2.0

If you’re a runner or walker, you’ll want this jacket! I bought it last year and is hands down my favourite jacket! It blocks out the wind like none other, completely waterproof, beautifully reflective without being gaudy with hidden pockets for your mp3 player and has thumbholes that block the wind from your wrists! On top of all of that, it’s extremely flattering for any body type (something I’ve found in all the NewBalance clothes I own). I wear this even when I’m NOT running, it’s worth every penny and then some!

Are these not the most darling things you’ve ever seen?! Matryoshkas as measuring cups! I just gave a set of these away as a birthday gift along with the same corresponding measuring spoons! My theory is that if you have a set of measuring cups and spoons that you love, you’ll be much more apt to use them than if you have a plain old boring set! I have a set that a friend gave me for my birthday right out on the countertop as they’re so beautiful and I use them daily!

TurboFire Workout

If you’ve been talking to me in the last couple of months then it’s no secret how in love I am with the TurboFire workout system! Chalene Johnson kicks it up a notch from her famous TurboKick and TurboJam workouts to bring us a workout that utilizes kickboxing, plyometrics, a bit of dance and HIIT workouts to kick your ass almost every day of the week! I was looking for a workout to challenge me and rev up my metabolism and I found it in TurboFire! This is more of an intermediate to advanced workout series and if you can’t do high impact cardio at the moment, there is a low impact version for every workout (which I utilized successfully while dealing with a torn calf muscle). This is a perfect workout for those who are bored with their current workout or are looking to challenge themselves!

Bowflex SelectTech 552 Adjustable Dumbbells

These things are so cool! Say good-bye to having to buy individual dumbbell sets and, most importantly, wondering where the hell to put them all! The Bowflex SelectTech Dumbbells are a complete set of hand weights all in one small package! All you do is adjust the dial to the weight that you want and then you pull them out! I have been drooling over these for years now! Although not the cheapest item on your wish list, they’re something to definitely invest in if you have a home gym and little space! I’m waiting for Buff Santa to put these under my tree one day!

So there you have it! My top picks for a healthy and fit holiday season! What’s on your wish list this year?
