As many of you may or may not know, I’m currently knee deep in muscles, skeletal structures, theories and fitness philosophy as I study to get my personal training certification so I can better help you all to lose weight, get fit and feel awesome. I’m a sucker for learning anything and everything I can get my hands on but I have to admit that my ability to retain specific information (re: facts) is a weak spot. I’m much better with concepts than actual facts so I’ve had to really change my gears when it comes to studying biology and physiology. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned over the years is that just because you’re not great at something doesn’t mean you can’t do it, you just need a new way of approaching it. For years I had wanted to go back to university to finish up my psychology degree but shied away from it because I had such a difficult time the first time I went to school but I decided to give it a shot anyway. I knew my weak points so when I went back, I tried different approaches for each test and each way I studied and guess what? I got my psych degree and I got it with honours! So next time you think about not doing something just because your past experience told you that you weren’t all that great at it, ask yourself how you can do it differently even if that means getting some help, you just never know what could happen!
